UPDATES

BUCHANAN, CREW, 6 mos., son of Meagan and Jerry Buchanan of Nashville TN – possible liver cancer – UPDATE:  Wednesday morning, 10th ,  “Crew had a good day and that they decided to hold off on the radiation - yay!  It has side effects and they don't want to do that if they don't have to.  GOOD.  AND.......(I'm grinning here!) she told me that the tumor/mass appears to be starting to shrink or dissolve or whatever because of the high count in his uric acid.  The high count in his uric acid means his kidneys are flushing something out!  They are flushing out the cancerous mass.  HALLELUJAH!”  - SECOND UPDATE:  Wednesday evening,  “Crew is holding steady.  As you know he is in the critical care unit which means there is a nurse right in his room all the time.  That is good!  He has a bunch of stuff/tubes etc going into him and many, many monitors, machines etc. to watch over him.  I was down there tonight and the nurse is very caring, patient and competent.  I liked her a lot and she didn't seem to mind my questions every few moments.  I could touch Crew, kiss him, rub his hair, pray over him etc.  It was great.  They still have him sedated for comfort and for him to not jar anything.  I like their quirky sense of humor - On a board on the wall, they called him "Crewie" which was cute.    Crew's healing was put into place 2000 years ago so that we could claim it on his behalf now.  We look forward to a full life for him and believe/KNOW it to be true. Please pray for a complete healing and be sure to thank Him for his mercies.

VAN WESTEN, ANN – wants to thank everyone for their prayers for her sisters, Karen and Lynn.

Here are their updates:

KAREN – “For those that have kept in touch with me regarding my younger sister, Karen, I am very happy to report that the blood test she had this week was the first normal blood test she has had in 8 years.  The doctors were afraid she was pre-leukemic.  God is truly wonderful and I am so thankful for all of you that lifted my sisters up in prayer.  May God bless you all.”

LYNN – “The biopsy of Lynn's right thumb was on Nov. 5.  The surgeon had already made arrangements for her to meet with a reconstruction doctor because it was felt that she had a subungual melanoma.  The lab results came back this week.  The spot was negative for melanoma, however she was advised to watch it carefully and have it checked regularly.  This surgeon operates on many types of cancers and was certain that this was going to result in an amputation.  He was quite surprised when the results came back negative.  Thank you all for praying for my older sister, Lynn.”

DEATHS, BIRTHS, MISCELLANEOUS

REESE, LORETTA, PO Box 25 , Naples TX 75568  passed  away  November  11,  2008   after suffering  a stroke and heart attack.  She and her husband Tom were associated with the Church of  God  fellowship group near  Mt. Pleasant , TX .  She was born November 26, 1943 and is survived  by her husband, Tom  Reese; four daughters, her mother, several sisters, grandchildren, and one great grandchild.  Funeral arrangements are unknown.
Update on crew

I was at the hospital earlier and the news was much better!  Yesterday when the baby "flatlined" it wasn't actually his heart stopping or his lungs stopping; without getting too graphic, Crew had vomited and it messed with his breathing tube which became blocked - hence the breathing stopped.  I was happy to learn it wasn't his heart etc. but something they could quickly fix and watch out for in the future.
He has been moved to a different room in the CCU because a new patient came in that needed to be in that room with the special call buttons that he no longer needed.  Yay.  He is still getting 'round the clock personal care by wonderful, diligent nurses who keep their cool in sudden emergencies.  I can't think enough ways to praise them.  We were all commenting on how much better he looked today.  His legs actually have a "leg shape" again and are soft to the touch (instead of like overfilled water balloons).   He came into the hospital wearing a size 2 baby diaper and swelled up to needing a size 4 (what 2-yr old Cade just got into!)  Today he is back down to a 3.  The swelling in his face is much less noticeable and his eyelids looked normal to me again.  They had been SO swollen with fluid.  He still gets blood and is still draining some off; still fed through tubes; on oxygen, catheter, etc etc.  but he responds to our voices and touch.  His lips are not swollen; his neck is healing; and so on.  We are learning patience and that God's promises are just that.  We can be satisfied with baby steps now.  We are so so SO grateful!
BARTON, GLENDA, 2641 W El Paso, Broken Arrow OK 74012, will be going in for day surgery on her ear on Monday.  It is a rare problem, but could create big problems in the future, so she is going to take care of it now.  Please pray God will guide the surgeon's hands and provide a successful outcome for Glenda.  Thank you.

PARROTT, JOHN, #88 of the Heart Transplants Support Group in Tulsa, is in St. Francis Hospital, room 3214, with a blood clot.  Prayers are urgently needed.  Please pray for John.
